Exton is located right outside of West Chester, PA. the town is a small one, located right outside the city of Philadelphia, PA. Exton Pennsylvania is home to many stores and family owned businesses. Exton Pennsylvanian is located in West Whiteland Township located within Chester County, Pennsylvania. Its population was 4,842 at the 2010 census. The Exton Square Mall and Main Street at Exton are both located within Exton along with several other shopping centers, making Exton the major shopping district in Chester County.
Exton is located near route 30 which used to be Lancaster road and after the Lincoln Highway. The road was also known as Pottstown Pike. in the late 18th century, Lancaster Road was a huge traveling road between Philly and the west Philly, while what is now Route 100 was a regional north-south route to Pottstown right near Exton Pennsylvania. A rumor exists that Exton was named as the x on the map, denoting this intersection, but the village was named after one of the several Exton’s in the United Kingdom.
In the 40s, Exton became home to the Newcome society. The campus was built overlooking farmland on Newcomen road which is now in Exton Pennsylvania and featured offices, a printing shop, library and museum, guest houses, a chapel and a bellower with a carillon. The Newcomen Society sold the property in the late 1990s, but its campus remains an Exton landmark serving as the headquarters of another business.
